International Service Project: Fire & Medical Supplies Loaded for Shipment to Mexico

A big thank you to all who turned out on Saturday, September 4th to help load donated medical and firefighting equipment and supplies to be delivered to a volunteer fire department in Mexico. Erik Larson, international service committee chair, worked with Raul Garza of the Woodburn Fire Department and Juan Armenta of the Hubbard Fire Department to organize and store the donated supplies and arrange for a truck, and the shipment will be assisted in Mexico by the Nogales, Mexico Rotary Club. There were about 15 volunteers on Saturday helping to load the truck, including 3 or 4 members of the Creekside Rotary Club, which donated funds to help pay for the cost of the truck. Funds for the project were also donated by the Keizer Rotary Club. These much-needed items, which include a fire and rescue truck, will be very much appreciated by the fire department in Guaymas, Mexico. Thanks to all of our club members who helped with this project, and to Erik for spearheading it and continuing our club’s long legacy of participating in international projects.
