Garden La Placita

La Placita Learning Garden & Playground

This outdoor learning garden was built by the East Salem Rotary Club in 2017 at the La Placita Community Center. A small playground for young children was added in 2019. The center has since closed, and the raised beds were moved to a community garden on Lancaster Drive.

Palm Sunday Brunch

Palm Sunday Brunch at Willamette Lutheran Retirement Community

Part community service project and part fundraiser, East Salem Rotary Club members prepared and served Palm Sunday brunch at Willamette Lutheran Retirement Community for several years. Club members prepared and served food, washed dishes, cleaned tables and floors, and met many wonderful residents, staff and guests.

Outdoor Play Kitchen at Family Building Blocks

In April 2018 East Salem Rotary Club members built an outdoor play kitchen for children at Family Building Blocks, which is a certified Relief Nursery committed to keeping children safe and families together. They partner with families with the greatest needs to provide high-quality, critical and voluntary services focused on prevention and increasing children’s readiness for the future.

Brown Road Greenhouse

During the 2014-15 Rotary year, the East Salem Rotary Club built and donated a much-needed greenhouse for the Brown Road Community Garden

dictionaries

Dictionary Distribution to Area 4th Grade Students

East Salem Rotarians helped place Rotary book labels in dictionaries, and then visited schools to distribute the dictionaries to local fourth graders, talking about Rotary and sharing information about efforts to eradicate polio.
