All about East Salem Rotary

Our Club

The Rotary Club of East Salem was established on June 27, 1962. It is the second oldest club in Salem, Oregon, and is committed to serving our community, both locally and globally. We are dedicated to the Rotary motto “Service Above Self,” and we have a long history of service to the east Salem community and to communities around the world.

We believe we can make a difference in the world by leveraging our time, talents and resources. Through our Rotary Club, people from all cultures and beliefs come together to exchange ideas, form lifelong friendships, and make professional connections while making a difference in our community and around the world.

East Salem Rotary meets every Friday at noon. Our local school partners are McKay High School, Chemawa Indian School, Blanchet Catholic School, Waldo Middle School, and Stephens Middle School. During the school year we regularly host and celebrate students of the month from these schools. Contact one of us to find out more about East Salem Rotary, or just come visit us at a meeting.

What is Rotary?

The main objective of Rotary is service—in the community, in the workplace, and around the globe. The 1.4 million Rotarians who make up more than 46,000+ Rotary clubs in nearly every country in the world share a dedication to the ideal of Service Above Self. Rotary clubs are open to people of all cultures and ethnicities and are not affiliated with any political or religious organizations. Rotarians work together to:

Promote peace
Fight disease
Provide clean water, sanitation and hygiene
Save mothers and children
Support education
Grow local economies

Rotary was formed in 1905 so professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. Over time, Rotary’s reach and vision gradually extended to humanitarian service. Members have a long track record of addressing challenges in their communities and around the world.

With every project, Rotary is changing the world for the better. One example is Rotary’s successful long-term efforts to eradicate polio. Our members now span the globe, working to solve some of our world’s most challenging problems.
