This Friday, we will be kicking off Rotary Foundation Month, so I thought it would be a good time to share a little bit about The Rotary Foundation and the work that is done through the foundation right here in District 5100.
The donations that are made locally to The Rotary Foundation are returned to the local district in three year cycles and are then distributed to local Rotary Clubs for their projects. These projects can be local or global in nature.
This year, we applied for one of these grants and received $1,900 from the District 5100 Foundation for our work at Swegle Boys and Girls Club. These monies will allow us to include an irrigation system in the learning garden when we build it this spring.
The Rotary Foundation is listed in the top ten list of charitable causes for efficiency in the use of its donations. As we enter into Rotary Foundation Month, I challenge each of you to commit to giving at least $100 to The Rotary Foundation this year. It is easy to do and can be done in monthly payments either by check or directly from your bank/charge account.
